| Overview |
Mogra Star Academy caters to nearly 1,300 students and over 180 orphans. The Academy is located in the Mathare North area and consists of three buildings, which house the school, orphanage, and the organization’s offices. Despite its meager budget and struggle for sponsors and donors, in order to accomplish their mission, Hannah and her team have built an impressive infrastructure. Currently, Mogra Star Academy is supported by 52 staff members including 42 teachers and 7 cooks who assist in educating and feeding nearly 1,500 children. |

The school is organized into three sections: Pre-School, Primary School, and High School and students are provided with free uniforms, books, supplies, and hot meals. For additional information on curricula and activities in each section, please visit their respective pages. For information on the orphanage, please click here. |

Since the Academy is currently located in an inhospitable environment not conducive for the development of children, the organization is in the process of raising funds for a new school and orphanage to be located away from the slums and in a more stable neighborhood. In light of recent violence in the Kenyan capital, a large percentage of which took place in Mathare, where mobs rampaged through the slum burning houses and brutally attacking people, Mogra Star believes that the construction and relocation of children to new and more secure facilities is urgent. The organization hopes that its new facilities will not only accommodate a larger number of children but will also provide them with recreational facilities not currently available.
